May 8th, 2008 SESAC hosted its 12th annual New York Music awards for its members at Chelesea Piers. The night’s big winner was Timbaland’s former protege Nate “Danja” Hills, earning the top honor for Songwriter of the Year, in addition to Song of the Year for Nelly Furtado’s “Say It Right.” The producer/songwriter is certainly deserving of the accolades for his contribution to some today’s most recognizable hits. While casual music fans might not be as familiar with Danja as they are with his mentor Timbaland, they’re definitely familiar with his body of work.
