Update: Jermaine Dupri Added To ASCAP’s “The Hitmakers” Panel


ASCAPAccording to Black Talent News.com, Jermaine Dupri has been added to the lineup of speakers as part of ASCAP’s “The Hitmakers” panel, which the performing rights organization is conducting in conjunction with the 51st Grammy Awards.

“The Hitmakers” panel is an ongoing series of professional development programs that focus on the music creation process. 

The free event takes place Saturday, February 7th, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA., and will be moderated by Billboard Magazine’s Senior Editor/R&B Hip Hop, Gail Mitchell.

Other panelists include: Johnta Austin, Ne-Yo, Manuel Seal and Tricky Stewart.

ASCAP Presents "The Hitmakers" Panel Featuring Johntá Austin, Ne-Yo, Manuel Seal and Tricky Stewart


In conjunction with the 51st Grammy Awards, The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) is presenting a special “Hitmakers” panel discussion featuring Grammy Award-winning songwriters and producers Johntá Austin, Ne-Yo, Manuel Seal and Tricky Stewart.

The event is part of ASCAP’s ongoing series of professional development programs that focus on the music creation process, and will be moderated by Gail Mitchell, Billboard Magazine’s Senior Editor of R&B/Hip Hop. 

Commenting on this special event, ASCAP’s SVP Domestic Membership, Randy Grimmett said: “ASCAP’s commitment to the songwriting community is evidenced once again in the high-caliber programming of our “Hitmakers” panel. On the eve of the Grammy Awards, ASCAP’s Rhythm & Soul Team has gathered Johntá Austin, Tricky Stewart, Manuel Seal and Ne-Yo to discuss the art and craft of songwriting and producing. This event is sure to fill quickly and we are honored to be joined by such an esteemed group of ASCAP members.”

The panel discussion is free and open to the public. It takes place on Saturday, February 7th, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA.

Chris Brown Added to Grammy Lineup


Grammy nominee Chris Brown has been added to the 51st Grammy lineup of performers. 

Other performances on the night include a collaboration between Estelle and Kanye West; a special tribute to the Four Tops featuring Jamie Foxx, Ne-Yo and original group member Abdul “Duke” Fakir; T.I. will be joined on stage by Lil’ Wayne, Kanye West, and Jay-Z to perform his hit record “Swagga Like Us”; Jennifer Hudson, who recently performed for the first time at Super Bowl XLIII since the murder of her mother, brother, and nephew will also perform; as well as Rihanna and Justin Timberlake.

Al Green, Queen Latifah, and T-Pain will be presenting awards during the event. The Grammy Awards take place live on CBS Sunday, Feb. 8th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
