Poe Boy/Atlantic recording artist Flo Rida makes history with the success of his new single “Right Round,” breaking the all-time one week digital single sales record, which he previously held with his 2008 T. Pain assisted single, “Low.”
Since its release on February 10th, the single “Right Round,” featured on Flo Rida’s up-coming album, R.O.O.T.S., has sold over 636,000 downloads, exceeding his previous mark of 467,000 for “Low.” The single also breaks the record for most downloads sold in the first week of release, recently held by Eminem’s current #1 hit, “Crack A Bottle (featuring Dr. Dre and 50 Cent).
The single landed at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart, as well as other digital outlets including Soundscan’s Digital Song Chart, iTunes, Amazon and Rhapsody. “Right Round” is also proving to be a viable single at various radio outlets nationwide, ascending on both the CHR/Top 40 and Rhythmic charts.
On Tuesday, February 24th, Flo Rida is teaming up with MTV to premiere the video for “Right Round,” while Myspace Music will premiere the video for “Shone” on the same day.
Flo Rida’s sophomore album R.O.O.T.S., which is an acronym for “Route of Overcoming the Struggle,” is the follow-up to his debut album, Mail on Sunday, and will feature artists Nelly Furtado, Ne-Yo, and Pleasure P. The album includes production from Jim Jonson, Dr. Luke, Eric Hudson, Mike Caren, and DJ Montay, who produced “Low.”
R.O.O.T.S. drops March 31st at physical and digital retail locations.
Hip-Hop honcho and business mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has announced plans to release his sixth studio album, titled, Last Train to Paris, which is scheduled to hit stores September 22nd.
Being described as a fusion of electro-hip-hop-soul-and-funk, the part-time artist, full-time executive offered his interpretation of his latest offering. “Last Train to Paris is deeper than any of the other stuff I have ever made. It’s a profound love story. It’s me with my shades off. It’s the truth,” says Combs.
“I’ve been a businessman for the past two years. It’s time for me to focus on being an artist again,” explains Combs. “I am going to show the world a new refreshing side of me. Get on or get off!”
Tapping into his rich mine of resources, Combs is reaching out to many of his colleagues for their assistance in the production department, collaborating with hit-making producers such as The-Dream, Tricky, The Neptunes, Mario Winans, T-Pain and Rodney Jerkins.
Even when Combs isn’t recording music, the founder and CEO of Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment Group and multi-platinum selling artist remains occupied through a number of creative and business ventures that includes music publishing, artist management, television and film production, fashion, and restaurants.
In 2007, Diddy released his last studio album Press Play, which included the hit singles “Come to Me” and “Last Night,” featuring Nicole Scherzinger and Keyshia Cole, respectively.
Money Management Group, founded by music producer and industry veteran Michael “Sha Money XL” Clervoix, is returning to Phoenix, Arizona May 9th – 10th to host the 3rd Annual One Stop Shop Producer’s Conference at The Hyatt Hotel.
The One Stop Shop Producer’s Conference, which has become an industry staple in the hip-hop community, attracting hundreds of attendees from around the globe, offers up-and-coming producers a forum to learn the ins-and-outs of music production from many notable figures in the business.
“This year I took requests from my site to see just who the public wanted present at the 2009 One Stop Shop,” explained Sha Money XL. “The most feedback received from the people, is that they want more chances to play their music, they want one-on-one attention, and we plan to do that this year, it’s going to be more interactive, more surprise battles, and spotlights.”
Attendees get the opportunity to experience informative panels that feature the music industry’s top producers; a two-day beat battle competition, where the winner receives surprise gifts and possible music placements; networking opportunities; as well as hands-on opportunities to experiment with the latest music production technology during the One Stop Shop break out sessions.
In previous years, the event’s panelists have included: DJ Premier, Swizz Beats, No ID, DJ Toomp, Mr. Porter, and Don Cannon. This year, producers expected to participate in the conference include: Polow Da Don, Pete Rock, Just Blaze, Jim Jonsin, Drumma Boy, Ron Browz, DJ Khalil, as well as some possible later additions.
Besides the producer panel, the One Stop Shop Producer’s Conference organizes a Technology Workshop and an A&R Panel. Adding something new to this year’s list of panels will be the Power Play Panel, featuring Chris Lighty (Violator), Bryan Leach (Polo Grounds Music) and Chaka Zulu (Disturbing Tha Peace).
In addition, the conference is also introducing the Visual Image Panel, which emphasizes the issues and concepts of art in production. Noted video directors Rik Cordero, Chris Robinson, and Lil X are scheduled panelists.

Grammy Award winning songbird India.Arie’s new album, Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics, entered the Billboard Top 200 chart at #3, making it this week’s highest charting new release, and catapulting her to #1 on the Billboard Top R&B Chart.
Testimony: Vol. 2 is the follow-up to India.Arie’s 2006’s album, Testitomony: Vol. 1, Life & Relationship. The new record includes her two singles, “Chocolate High,” featuring Musiq Soulchild, which has been the #1 most added song at Urban AC radio this week, while “Therapy” featuring Gramps Morgan, has become the #1 most downloaded song off the album.
To promote Testimony: Vol. 2, India.Arie made numerous TV appearances this week, beginning the day of her release (Tuesday, February 17th) with a live performance on ABC’s Good Morning America.
The singer/songwriter capped off her day of promotion by appearing as the fourth artist to be featured on VH1’s Soulstage series, performing new songs from the album, such as “Therapy” and “Pearls,” in addition to her previous hit records.

Terius Youngdell Nash, otherwise known as The-Dream, is scheduled to release his sophomore album Love vs. Money in physical and digital formats on March 10th.
The first single from Love vs. Money is “Rockin’ That Thang.” A remix of the song was released two weeks ago featuring Def Jam labelmates Fabolous, Juelz Santana, Rick Ross and Ludacris.
“My Love,” which features Mariah Carey, is the second single off the album, and is scheduled to impact at Rhythm and Urban outlets on March 2nd. The video for the song has been directed by Nick Cannon and was shot two weeks ago in Los Angeles.
“It took me awhile to know that the new album is better than the first one,” says The-Dream. “But it is. So now we know what you’re capable of, we know how many songs you’ve written for everybody, and you know we’re gonna do it again!”
Love vs. Money is the follow-up to the successful debut album, Love/Hate, which featured the hit songs “Shawty Is A 10,” “Falsetto” and “I Luv Your Girl.” In addition to his own recording success, The-Dream has written hit records for Rihanna (”Umbrella”), Mariah Carey (”Touch My Body”), J. Holiday (”Bed,” “Suffocate”), and Beyoncé (”Single Ladies”).
Other noted guests on the album include Kanye West and Lil’ Jon.
Love vs. Money is being released on Radio Killa/Def Jam Records, and will be executive produced by Island Def Jam Chairman Antonio “L.A.” Reid, and co-produced by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart with Carlos “LOS” McKinney.
