Billboard Magazine is reporting that 21 year-old Morrisville, PA, rapper Asher Roth, is close to completing his debut album, tentatively titled “Asleep in the Bread Aisle” on SRC/Universal Records. Roth told media at a listening event Tuesday Feb. 3 that the project is still a work in progress, and that he’s awaiting features from Ludacris, Cee-Lo and possibly Lady Gaga for the tracks “Leo The Lion,” “Be By Myself,” and “She Don’t Want A Man,” respectively.
Roth was discovered after his now-manager, Scooter, heard several songs on MySpace which Roth recorded while attending West Chester University of Pennsylvania. The first single released from Roth’s up-coming debut is “I Love College,” which he’s distributed through various online outlets, including popular sites such as Onsmash.com and NahRight.com.
Industry veteran Don Cannon contributes to the production on “Asleep in the Bread Aisle,” although newcomer Oren Yoel crafted the bulk of the album’s beats.
“Asleep in the Bread Aisle” is scheduled for a April 21st release date.
